Qatar school fees and registration: a parent’s step-by-step guide
Qatar Online editorial team ·

- 1Set curriculum & budget
- 2Compare verified fees
- 3Check eligibility
- 4Prepare records
- 5Apply to schools
- 6Confirm all extras
Start a Qatar school search with three decisions: curriculum, realistic yearly budget and location. Then confirm admission availability and every mandatory extra directly with the school.
Quick answer: The school fee sheets collected by Qatar Online currently range from about QAR 4,000 to QAR 37,700 a year among listed standard/community schools and QAR 24,600 to QAR 98,700 a year among listed premium international schools. These are tuition ranges across grades, not a quote for one child, and extras can apply.

Public or private school?
Public-school admission is limited to eligibility categories set by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The official service lists categories including Qataris, children of Qatari mothers, GCC nationals, certain residency holders, diplomats and employees of specified government, public or approved charitable organizations.
Families who do not fall into an eligible public-school category usually compare licensed private schools. Children aged 6–18 brought under family residence must be enrolled in a licensed school in Qatar or have approved proof of education outside Qatar.
Build the real yearly budget
Ask for a written schedule covering:
- Tuition for the child's exact grade and academic year.
- Application, assessment and registration charges.
- Deposit and seat-reservation terms.
- Books, technology and learning materials.
- Uniforms, meals, activities and exams.
- Bus transport by area.
- Any building or capital levy.
- Refund and withdrawal conditions.
The highest tuition figure is not automatically a “VIP” service, and schools do not use one official VIP category. Compare curriculum, inspection information, support and total cost instead.
Documents commonly requested
- Child's passport, QID or visa record.
- Parent or guardian identification.
- Birth certificate.
- Previous school reports and transfer/leaving certificate.
- Vaccination or health record.
- Proof of address such as an electricity certificate or registered lease where required.
- Employer letter for an eligibility category where required.
- Recent photographs and any assessment records requested by the school.
Step-by-step
- Choose the curriculum and shortlist schools near home or work.
- Check the school's license, available grades and admission dates.
- Compare the full yearly cost, not only tuition.
- Ask whether the child's age and previous grade match admission rules.
- Prepare translated or attested records if requested.
- Apply directly to each school and keep the application receipt.
- Complete any assessment or interview.
- Read the offer, payment and refund terms before accepting.
- Keep proof of enrollment for the family residence requirement.
Use the school registration service and family sponsorship guide together when moving with children.
